God gives us the gift of eternal life and more. Saved means eternal life and also health wholeness preservation and peace in this life, the moment we believe in Jesus Christ. Oh how simple He made it for us. Salvation in this life and after is completely independent of how good or bad we think we. It is completely independent of how good or bad others think we are. It is by His grace-His favor towards us. It is His gift to us. Why? Because God so loved the world. The whole world. He so loved every person. He so loved you. We do not earn a gift. Gifts are simply received or declined. Oh won't you receive this gift right now?
